'공식적인' 과정을 따르고 싶다면, Debian New Maintainers' Guide를 참조하기 바란다. 일반적인 데비안 패키지들은 debian/rules 파일을 포함해서 바이너리 패키지를 만들기위한 과정들을 자동화해주는 소스 패키지를 가진다. 여기서 우리는 간단한 쉘 스크립트나 바이너리 실행 파일을 작은 바이너리 패키지로 묶는 방법을 보일 것이다. 그런데, 나는 독자가 'tar', 'man'의 사용법 그리고 '.tar.gz' 파일과 데비안 이 무엇인지를 알고 있다고 가정할 것이지만, 'ar'이나 'dpkg'같은 프로그램을 다룬 적은 없다고 생각할 것이다. 웹상의 자료들 The Debian Reference는 훌륭한 개괄과 함께 데비안에 특화된 모든 정보를 제공한다. 자신만의 데비안 패키지를 만드는 것에 관한 공식적인 문서는 Debian New Maintainers' Guide이다. 시작하기 데비안 참조문서 2.2.2 2002-11-30에는 "데비안 바이너리 형식의 내부구조가 deb(5) 메뉴얼 페이지에서 설명된다. 이 내부 형식은 (데비안의 메이저 릴리즈 사이에) 변경되기 쉽기 때문에, .deb 파일을 다룰때는 항상 dpkg-deb(8)을 사용하라."라는 문구가 있다. dpkg-deb man 페이지에는 "dpkg-deb는 데비안 아카이브를 묶고, 풀고 관련 정보를 제공한다. .deb 파일은 필요에 따라 ar과 tar만으로도 조작 가능하다. 패키지들을 시스템에 설치하거나 삭제하기위해서는 dpkg를 사용하라."라는 문구가 있다. 아마 독자는 디렉토리 '/var/cache/apt/archives/'에서 많은 .deb 파일 예제를 찾을 수 있을 것이다. 'dpkg-deb -I somepackage.deb' 명령으로 패키지가 제공하는 기능이 무엇인지 일반적인 설명을 볼 수 있다. 'dpkg-deb -c somepackage.deb'는 설치될 파일들의 리스트를 보여준다. .deb 파일의 내용을 보려면 'ar tv somepackage.deb' 명령을 사용한다. This is useful for creating space for new operating systems, reorganizing disk usage, and copying data to new hard disks. . This package contains the Parted binary and manual page. . Parted currently supports DOS, Mac, Sun, BSD, GPT and PC98 disklabels/partition tables, as well as a 'loop' (raw disk) type which allows use on RAID/LVM. Filesystems supported are ext2, ext3, FAT (FAT16 and FAT32) and linux-swap. Parted can also detect HFS (Mac OS), JFS, NTFS, ReiserFS, UFS and XFS filesystems, but cannot create/remove/resize/check these filesystems yet. . The nature of this software means that any bugs could cause massive data loss. While there are no known bugs at the moment, they could exist, so please back up all important files before running it, and do so at your own risk.
